The State of Oregon requires Vector Control Districts to prepare an annual Pesticide Use Plan (P.U.P.). While we are not an official Vector Control District, we still prepare and submit P.U.P's for review. These Plans can be found on the municipal specific tabs above.
Gambusia affinis, otherwise known as the Western Mosquitofish may be available for residential ornamental ponds or other small water sources that do not have access to natural water sources. Let us know if you have a small water source that these can help to control the mosquito larvae.
For small sources such at stormwater catch basins, Natular XRT, containing the biological material Spinosad may be used.
Larger sources that produce mosquito larvae, such as flooded fields and seepage from ponds may require VectoLex, which contains Bacillus sphaericus. This naturally occurring bacterium helps reduce the needs for adulticde fogging.
The following pesticide is used for adult mosquito control.
When mosquitoes escape the larval control or for mosquitoes that migrate in beyond the larval control buffer, an adulticide containing Permethrin will be used. This pesticide will only be used if/when/where mosquitoes are, and only when mosquitoes are active and non-target organism are not active.
