If you are experiencing mosquito nuisances, please report them, as it is the best way to help direct us to where we can help the most.

Integrated Mosquito Management

Mosquito Information

The mosquito goes trough a complete metamorphosis.  Mosquito eggs are laid on or near water.  When the egg is flooded, the egg hatches and a mosquito larva begins swimming.  The larvae go through 4 phases (in-stars) before entering the pupal stage.  After a couple more days as a pupa, the adult mosquito emerges and flies off, looking for a blood meal and mate.

Controlling, not exterminating

There is no way to exterminate the mosquitoes.  We only work to control them.  TRMVC utilizes an integrated approach to control mosquitoes, starting with the least toxic methods.  Our goal is to reduce the mosquitoes to a tolerable, safe level, using the least amount of pesticides.  Larval control, using source reduction and larvicides are the primary measures.  If we can resolve the trouble-causing sources, adulticides become less needed.

Mosquito Adulticiding

Only when mosquito populations exceed the threshold, adulticides are applied.  Adulticiding can occur in isolated areas of high mosquito populations or city-wide, depending on the populations, disease risk and/or need arises.
